Renault Sport Racing and Hankook have agreed a long-term partnership for the Formula Renault Eurocup. Starting next year, the global tyre maker Hankook will be the category’s sole tyre supplier while partnering innovative initiatives that will reward the most deserving rookies on the grid.
With the introduction of the new, more powerful, Formula Renault with its 1.8l turbo derived from the Renault Mégane R.S., Renault Sport Racing will work closely with its exclusive tyre supplier Hankook Tire in a multi-year deal.
Already praised for its qualities, the Formula Renault Eurocup will therefore offer an additional asset to drivers willing to learn and develop their skills step by step by sharing the same supplier as several national F4 championships.
As a world-renowned tyre maker of leading-edge technologies and top-notch performance tyres with consistency, Hankook will provide competitors an opportunity to strengthen their racecraft before they move on to the next level
The rookies to take centre stage in 2019
As each year, Renault Sport Racing will offer the campaign’s top rookie his or her entry fees for the 2020 season, as well as a once in a lifetime experience at this level. The winner will be able to spend two days in total immersion at the Renault F1 Team chassis base, with privileged access to the simulator and Human Performance Center, usually reserved for the team’s and the Renault Sport Academy’s drivers.
New for this year, the competitors coming from the lower categories will also compete for the Hankook Prize. Successfully meeting the demands of motorsport for several generations, Renault Sport Racing and Hankook will continue to focus on the promotion of up-and-coming talents through this new trophy, which is the fruit of their new partnership.
Awarded to the best placed rookie in each race, the Hankook Prize will allow newcomers to show their potential as they will race for one set of tyres per race. Those drivers rewarded throughout the season will be able to add them up before returning to race for the title the following year.
