More than 67,000 people tuned into Twitch and watched live as Renault Sport Team Vitality scored the winning goal of the Rocket League Championship Series, with a 4-1 win over G2 Esports in the Grand Final.
After recently claiming the European title, Renault Sport Team Vitality is now crowned World Champions. The quality of play in Newark, New Jersey over this weekend has never been higher. After five fierce final games and a rocky day two, Victor ‘Fairy Peak’ Locquet, Kyle ‘Scrub Killa’ Robertson, and Alexandre ‘Kaydop’ Courant team’s dynamic ensured their win. Scrub Killa, in particular, played flawlessly throughout the weekend and his level of skill and defence arguably brought Renault Sport Team Vitality’s win.
During the Intense weekend of games, twelve of the best Rocket League teams in the world battled it out. Renault Sport Team Vitality had to compete against some exceptional teams including Cloud9 and NRG, beating them both. Renault Sport Team Vitality and G2 Esports found themselves in the grand finals after both coming off hot streaks in the semi-finals. With two matches going overtime, in the fifth game, a quick Renault Sport Team Vitality counter-attack left G2 open at the back where Victor ‘Fairy Peak’ Locquet was able to score the winning move.
